Sol.      Let the marks scored by Suyash in first term be \(x\).
∴          Marks scored in second term = (\(x\) + 10)
             According to the given condition,
                              5(\(x\)   + 10)           =    \(x^2\)
∴                              5\(x\)  + 50            =    \(x^2\)
∴                  \(x^2\) –  5\(x\)  –  50              =    0

∴           \(x^2\) – 10\(x\) + 5\(x\) – 50             =    0
∴            \(x\)(\(x\) – 10) + 5(\(x\) – 10)         =    0
∴                 (\(x\) – 10) (\(x\) + 5)             =    0
∴      \(x\) – 10   =   0          or         \(x\)  +  5    =   0
∴             \(x\)    =   10        or                 \(x\)    =  –5
\(x\) = –5 is not acceptable because, marks can not be negative.

Suyash scored 10 marks in first test.
